Senior Data Scientist (LLM & Generative AI)

Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of advanced NLP/LLM-based features for our MIGO platform and create innovative standalone applications (e.g., using Flutter or Streamlit) that demonstrate the transformative potential of AI.
• Proactively engage with strategic customers, consulting on their specific business challenges and leading the development of AI prototypes that innovate directly on our AI platform to address their needs.
• Drive the exploration, research, and application of cutting-edge generative AI techniques, including advanced text generation, image synthesis, and audio applications, leveraging the latest advancements in LLMs.
• Architect and implement robust, scalable NLP and Generative AI models (including LLMs) into our GCP-based products and services, ensuring seamless integration, high performance, and reliability.
• Establish and champion best practices for model development, MLOps, and responsible AI on GCP, ensuring efficiency, reproducibility, and maintainability in production environments.
• Collaborate strategically with product managers and engineering leads to define the AI roadmap, translate complex business requirements into solvable AI problems, and identify novel opportunities for AI innovation within the enterprise SaaS landscape.
• Act as a subject matter expert and provide technical leadership in NLP, LLMs, and Generative AI, staying abreast of research trends and advocating for relevant technologies.
• Mentor and guide junior data scientists and engineers, fostering their growth and ensuring adherence to high technical standards.
• Optimize the effective utilization of GCP services across the entire AI model lifecycle, from data ingestion to monitoring.
• Proactively evaluate and integrate leading open-source NLP and Generative AI libraries and LLM frameworks to accelerate development and enhance capabilities.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of proven professional experience as a Data Scientist, with a significant and demonstrable track record in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and Generative AI.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and its advanced data science ecosystem (including pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy).
• Extensive hands-on experience with leading NLP and Generative AI frameworks such as Hugging Face Transformers, TensorFlow, or PyTorch, and their application to solve complex, real-world problems.
• Deep understanding of various LLM architectures, fine-tuning methodologies, prompt engineering, and their strategic application in a product context.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and deploying interactive AI applications or prototypes using frameworks like Streamlit, R/RShiny, or other frontend technologies.
• Strong expertise in cloud-based machine learning platforms and MLOps practices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services like Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and model serving.
• Solid knowledge of data engineering principles and ELT/ETL pipelines for preparing large, complex datasets for AI models.
• Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with a strong focus on translating complex data insights into robust and impactful product features.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders, consult with customers on their needs, and effectively mentor team members.
• Fluent in German (C1/C2 level preferred for strategic communication with stakeholders).
